Sightseeing Places Near Udaipur

Eklingji Temple
Eklingji Temple is a magnificent 8th century Hindu temple complex located at the distance of only 22 km from Udaipur. Eklingji is considered to be the ruling deity of Mewar Princely State and the Ruler Maharana rules as his Dewan. The temple complex was built in the 734 AD and consists of 108 temples finely chiseled out of sandstone and spectacular marbles. It has been a popular excursion of Udaipur. There is a Nagda Town at the distance of 1 km from Eklingji. Nagda Town is very famous for Saas Bahu and Adbudji temples. The Saas Bahu Temple is far and wide famous for its beautiful stone carvings.



 
Nathdwara Temple
48 km north-east of Udaipur, there is the town of Nathdwara which is famous for its temple of Hindu Lord Krishna. The temple complex houses the idol of Shrinathji – a 14th century, 7 years old incarnation of Lord Krishna. Nathdwara temple is one of the most popular excursions on Udaipur trip.

Haldi Ghati
Haldi Ghati is a popular tourist destination, historical place and memorial site. It is a mountain pass in Rajsamand District of Rajasthan. It is a historical place where the battle between the great legendary warrior Maharana Pratap Singh of Mewar and the Mughal Emperor Akbar was held. Kumbhalgarh Fort
Kumbhalgarh Fort is a 15th century mammoth Mewar fortress situated in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan. Build during the 15th century by Rana Kumbha and enlarged in the 19th century, Kumbhalgarh is one of the most prominent and largest forts in the state of Rajasthan. It is historically noted as the birth place of legendry, great warrior and king of Mewar, Maharana Pratap. Situated at the distance of 82 km from Udaipur it is best known for the 38 kms of walls claming it the second largest wall in the world after the Great Wall of China. The fortress of Kumbhalgarh houses 360 temples, including 300 ancient Jain temples and 60 Hindu temples. Tourists can also see the wonderful views of the rippling sand dunes of the Thar Desert from the fort walls. Kumbhalgarh is now a popular excursion on Udaipur tour.

Ranakpur Jain Temples
Ranakpur is a famous village and prominent tourist destination located in Pali District of Rajasthan. Located between Jodhpur (the second largest city of the state) and Udaipur (the City of Lakes & Palaces) in the valley on the western side of the Aravali Range, Ranakpur is best known for architecturally beautiful Jain temples. Dedicated to Adinatha (the first of the twenty-four Jain tirthankara), the temple complex is internationally renowned for its stunning structure and architecture. The specialty of the temple complex is over 1444 marble pillars which all are carved in beautiful detail supporting the entire complex. It is estimated that there are more than 1444 pillars but in fact it is impossible to count the number of the pillars that support the beautiful temple complex. The temple complex is designed as Chaumukha – with four faces. The stunning architecture of Ranakpur Jain temples attracts tourists and architecture lovers from all over the world.
